How NanaSelect fits together
A five-minute orientation for a new admin: what the pieces are, how they chain into a buyer's recommendation, and where you change each one.
The chain, buyer's-eye view
A buyer answers questions → their answers fire rules → the rules recommend systems → the results page dresses the recommendation with images, education, and evidence.
Everything you manage in the admin is one link of that chain:
| You edit… | In admin… | The buyer sees… |
|---|---|---|
| Systems and their typed attribute values | Catalog → Systems / Attributes | the products recommended and compared |
| Factors and their options (each with education text + images) | Catalog → Factors | the questions, choices, and teaching content in the guided flow |
| Recommendation rules (conditions → outcome) | Guided selection → Recommendation rules | which system wins for which answers, and why (the rationale line) |
| Tracks | Guided selection → Tracks | named variants of the flow (/select/<slug>) |
| Images on any entity + the media library | each entity's Images section · Content & media → Media | photography in the flow, on cards, and on the results page |
| The corpus (ingested nanawall.com content) + its tagging | Content & media → Corpus / Corpus tagging | quoted passages that ground "why this fits" |
Five things that surprise new admins
- Matching is rules-only. A factor option's "influences attributes" mappings document intent, power retrieval and imagery, and feed drift advisories — but only rules decide the recommendation.
- Only rights-cleared images render publicly. An attached image whose rights aren't cleared is badged "won't render publicly" in the Media widget and silently held back from every buyer surface. Clear rights from the media library's asset page (Rights tab).
- Education has a placement. Each factor/option's education (text + its images) renders inline in the flow by default, or behind a "?" modal when you set placement to modal. No modal content = no "?".
- One image per value can be the "results page" image. In any option's or attribute value's Media widget, the Results page role picks the image that illustrates it on the recommendation page.
- Everything is audited. Every change writes an append-only entry — Insights → Audit answers "who changed what, when".
Where to look when something's wrong
- "A system isn't being recommended" → Recommendation rules (conditions), then the system's attribute values.
- "An image isn't showing" → the entity's Media widget: rights badge? Then the media library asset's Rights tab.
- "The flow shows a question it shouldn't" → the factor's Dependencies tab (relevance rules, exclusions) and the track's display rules.
- "Copy is wrong on a page" → Content (CMS pages) or Page chrome (header / footer / hero), not the factor/system records.
Every admin screen has a ? Docs link in its header that opens the detailed guide for that screen.
